About the Work 42nd St. & 7th Ave. brings together two independent moments from New York. The form of a cocktail glass meets the illuminated signage of Times Square, creating a new visual structure where typography, light, and the object become inseparable. The title refers to the intersection where the second exposure was photographed, connecting the image to a specific place in the city.
Artist’s Process This work was created entirely in-camera using multiple exposure, without digital compositing, Photoshop, or generative AI. The process begins with a form. I create the first exposure in advance — in this case, a cocktail glass — and then search for a real moment that can interact with it. I can influence how the two exposures meet, but I cannot fully control what reality gives me. The final photograph exists somewhere between intention and chance.
Series This work is part of my ongoing exploration of New York through in-camera multiple exposure. I create the form. Reality gives me the moment. The photograph happens somewhere between the two. The form changes the way we see the moment, and the moment gives the form a new meaning. Neither tells the whole story on its own — the image exists in the relationship between them.
