About the Work
This was one of the first art photographs I created after moving to New York.
At the time, I often felt as though I had been placed in a position where I wasn’t meant to exist. Like these fried eggs standing vertically against gravity, I was trying to find balance in a place that still didn’t feel natural.
They were never meant to stand upright. Somehow, they still did.
Looking back, I realize I wasn’t photographing eggs at all. Without intending to, I had created a self-portrait of a very specific moment in my life.

Artist’s Process
This photograph was created using real fried eggs attached to a canvas.
The composition existed for only a few seconds. Once the canvas was lifted into a vertical position, gravity immediately took over and the yolks began to flow. There was no second attempt, no opportunity to adjust the composition, and no way to recreate the image. The final photograph captures a moment that physically existed only once.
My work often lives where pop art meets surrealism. I use familiar objects and place them in situations they were never meant to inhabit. Rather than constructing digital illusions, I create real physical conditions and allow the materials to respond naturally. The photograph becomes a record of something that could never happen in exactly the same way again.

Series
This work is part of my ongoing exploration of everyday objects through photography.
I’m interested in how ordinary materials can become emotional metaphors. By changing context instead of the object itself, familiar things begin to tell stories about vulnerability, adaptation, and the fragile balance between control and surrender.
