About the Work New York has a way of turning ordinary evenings into something unexpected. This photograph brings together two familiar symbols of the city—a cocktail glass and the Manhattan skyline. They don’t simply overlap; they complete one another. The city becomes the drink, and the drink becomes the city. For me, it’s a portrait of anticipation—the feeling that, in New York, the best part of the day often begins after work ends.
Artist’s Process This work is created entirely in-camera using multiple exposure. Two separate photographs are exposed onto the same frame without digital compositing, Photoshop, or generative AI. Rather than combining unrelated images, I look for visual relationships that already exist but often go unnoticed. I don’t use multiple exposure as a visual trick. I use it to discover images that reality quietly suggests on its own.
Series This work is part of my ongoing exploration of New York through in-camera multiple exposure. Each photograph combines independent moments captured in the same city, revealing connections between architecture, everyday objects, and urban life. Through multiple exposure, familiar scenes become visual metaphors that couldn’t exist in a single moment, yet still feel completely natural.
